The movie is baed on the real lives of Nic and David Sheff and their novels “Beautiful Boy” and “Tweak”. Beautiful Boy chronicles the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse, and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years. Timothée had to lose 20+ pouds for the roll. The movie is set in the early 2000’s which explains the old computers and fashion. This was Timothee’s second time working with Kaitlyn Dever.
