Possible new project – ‘Playground’

Timothée has secured the producing rights to the novel ‘Playground’ by Richard Powers. He might also star in it.

Warner Bros. Pictures has closed a film-rights deal for the New York Times bestseller Playground by Richard Powers.

Plan B, Timothée Chalamet and Brian Swardstrom are attached to produce. Nothing will happen until it’s developed, but Chalamet has first crack at starring as the central character.

The Booker Prize-nominated Playground follows Todd Keane and his two best friends from the University of Illinois, through the tech boom of Silicon Valley to the phosphate-mined Polynesian island of Makatea. The story explores love, friendship and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence.

A potential new project with James Mangold

There might be a new project with ‘A Complete Unknown’ director James Mangold in the works with Timmy. Read more below.

The Town is abuzz over High Side, a package based on an unpublished short story by Jaime Oliveira that looms as a potential reteam of Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold. They are just coming off A Complete Unknown, the Bob Dylan smash that got eight Oscar nominations. Chernin Entertainment is attached as producer. Sugar23, which reps Oliveira, is out to the town with the short story pitch package that also is making a buzz in publishing circles.

In High Side, Billy is a former MotoGP racer, who is haunted by a career-ending crash and a family legacy of abandonment but is drawn back into the world of high-speed risks and extreme danger. His estranged brother, already being pursued by the FBI, recruits him for a series of bank robberies on superbikes. A gifted motocross rider, Billy walked away from the sport after a devastating accident, and he has been making do caring for his addict father and the family garage. He’s blindsided when his estranged older brother Cole resurfaces — just after their father’s death — with a proposition: use Billy’s talents for something bigger: robbing banks. Cole assembles a mismatched crew, including a woman who becomes Billy’s lover, and they begin knocking over small-town desert banks with speed and precision. But as the stakes rise, Lennox, an FBI agent who has a complicated history with Cole, closes in as the crew preps its biggest score: a bank job timed with a big motorcycle parade. There are high-speed action and emotional twists and turns in the climax.

‘Dune’ sequel announced

According to Deadline, the sequel to ‘Dune’ has been greenlit with an October 2023 release date.

It what comes as no surprise, the sequel for Dune finally has been greenlighted for a October 20, 2023 theatrical release with director, producer and co-screenwriter Denis Villeneuve returning.

The key word here is theatrical. We understand that a key point of negotiations between Legendary and Warner Bros was that Dune: Part Two would be given a pure theatrical window; no day-and-date HBO Max release plan is in the mix for this cinema spectacle.

The greenlight news was announced Tuesday on the Legendary and WB social accounts.

Timothée might be in talks for another horror movie

According to We Got This Covered, Timmy might be in talks for a horror thriller called ‘The Hunter and the Fox’ with Keanu Reeves playing a villain.

Now, a new report is offering up that the 56 year-old is teaming up with Timothée Chalamet for horror thriller The Hunter and the Fox.

Apparently, Reeves is being eyed to play a father who begins an affair with a tour guide, causing his son to fall in with the wrong crowd, in a story that’s been described as having shades of Stanley Kubrick. Chalamet is said to be in contention for the role of a young man who exerts a bad influence over the son, before the story begins taking a more supernatural turn.

The Hunter and the Fox is listed as being in development on IMDb, and that’s about as far as the official information goes, although it sounds like a hugely exciting project.
