‘Dune’ feature in Entertainment Weekly

Entertainment Weekly has a new feature on ‘Dune’ which is accompanied by some great new photoshoot images which you can see in the gallery.

Villeneuve signed on to direct Dune in January 2017, just about a week after earning a Best Director Oscar nomination for Arrival. This did not escape the attention of then up-and-coming actor Timothée Chalamet, who made the most of the fact that he and Villeneuve each had movies on the awards circuit (Call Me by Your Name and Blade Runner 2049, respectively) later that year.

“Every room I was in with him, I’d try to put myself in his eyeline or just try to make him familiar with me,” Chalamet, 25, recalls. “He hadn’t seen Call Me by Your Name yet, but once he did he asked me to come meet him at the Cannes Film Festival where he was president of the jury, which did not feel casual at all. So I went out there and just had one of the coolest meetings ever with him, where I felt he was already treating me as a potential collaborator.”

‘Dune’ to be released on streaming on it’s cinema release

According to The Wrap, Warner Bros will release all their 2021 movies on HBO Max and theatres simultaneously. Which means that if the release date satys the same, the ‘Dune’ will be released on HBO Max on October 1, 2021.

Warner Bros. is radically changing up its distribution strategy for 2021, releasing all 17 of its movies for the year in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously.

Just as “Wonder Woman 1984” will be released on Christmas Day both in theaters and on HBO Max, Warner Bros.’ entire 2021 slate will play on the WarnerMedia streaming service and theatrically worldwide. However, every film will be available for just one month on HBO Max before it leaves the platform, and it will then continue playing theaters with normal distribution windows.

Again, this applies to every movie on Warner’s 2021 slate — though some are still in production and the exact list is subject to change. That includes major tentpoles like “Godzilla vs. Kong,” DC Films’ “The Suicide Squad,” Timothée Chalamet’s “Dune” and Keanu Reeves’ “Matrix 4.”

‘Dune’ pushed back to October 2021

According to Collider, ‘Dune’ has been moved from its release date this December to October 1, 2021.

It seems the spice won’t flow until next year, as Warner Bros. and Legendary are moving Denis Villeneueve‘s Dune off its December release date and will unveil the epic sci-fi movie on Oct. 1, 2021, Collider has exclusively learned.

[…]

Dune had been slated to open on Dec. 18, but Warner Bros. recently moved Wonder Woman 1984 to Christmas Day, which seemed to complicate matters. At the time, a source told Collider that Warner Bros. was confident the marketplace could support multiple tentpoles, as it has every year around the holidays, but with no vaccine in sight, Americans have remained reluctant to return to theaters even though no new COVID-19 cases have been traced back to cinemas.

[…]

The Dune delay has nothing to do with the movie itself, and Villeneuve is said to have been supportive of the decision having made it for the big screen, which is where Warner Bros. and Legendary felt it should premiere. Neither studio can afford to take a bath on Dune, so not only does this decision make financial sense for them, but it’s a health-conscious choice as well.
